Description:

This volunteer project in Argentina works from Villas in barrio San Blas (a poor neighborhood in Buenos Aires). The project works with pregnant women and mothers with young children who are facing difficulties taking care of themselves and their children. This project provides services in pediatrics, nutrition, stimulation and motivation to learn and behave well, and social assistance. In this program volunteers work in the playroom with little children, with the mothers whom they assist in the workshops, preparing breakfast and materials, and assist the professionals with administrative tasks.

Activities:

You will help take care of children from 0 to 5 years old in a Children Center in Buenos Aires, give them attention and play with them. Moreover, you can assist in logistical and administrative tasks: sorting donations and coordinating campaigns.

Volunteers work together with the Project Coordinator in budgeting or seeking donations.

You will provide support to weekly workshops about recycling, cooking, computers etc. Volunteers can also help with developing new workshops and project proposals. Moreover, you will participate in the process of surveying the people in the villa about the situation.

Requirements:

An interest and desire to work with children and mothers is essential when working at this social project in Buenos Aires. Furthermore, volunteers should be enthusiastic and motivated to help develop this project.

Minimum:

Volunteers should work for at least 4 weeks.

Work Schedule:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 to 13:00

Spanish:

You should speak Spanish on an intermediate level, in order to communicate with the mothers and children.
